Although the defense was great for the Explorers, they struggled at times to take care of the ball. La Salle had 14 total turnovers in the game. Luckily for them, George Washington had 20 turnovers themselves. The Explorers will need to take better care of the ball against teams in the future if they want to keep winning.
But that might not matter much if their defense plays like this every game. They allowed just 2 points in the first 11 minutes and 19 points in total in the first half. George Washington is no slouch; they are 12-4 on the season, including today's loss. The Colonels average 70 ppg on offense, and the Explorers stifled them all day long.
They are also a really good defensive team, ranking 35th in the country in points allowed per game, at 59.1 ppg. La Salle managed to slightly exceed that total today, which was more than enough to secure the win.
The win brings the Explorers to 9-7 on the season, and also gives them their first A-10 victory on the season. With 15 games still to play this season, the Explorers need to keep playing like this if they wish to go deep in the A-10 tournament.
