Not even 24 hours after ruining Montreal's home opener, the Toronto Maple Leafs repeated the feat in Philadelphia. After Brayden Schenn scored the first goal at the very end of the first period (assisted by newcomers Lecavalier and Streit) things slowly unraveled for the Flyers.
Phil Kessel tied things up 1-1 at the end of the 2nd. Wayne Simmonds received a penalty soon after, with 3 seconds left in the 2nd. The Wayne Train never reached the station though and the score remained tied.
Going into the 3rd period, the Flyers looked like the team that had played last night, not the Leafs. Can't really fault their effort though. The Maple Leafs just operated better tonight. If you want to take a positive away from the opener, goalie Steve Mason looked sharp.
The other 2 Toronto goals came from the stick of Dave Bolland in the 3rd period.
1 for 7 on the power play won't cut it for the orange and black going forward, so that will need to be improved upon. All in all, it's just one game though. The Flyers are back at it Saturday night when they head to Montreal to face off against former fan favorite Danny Briere.
