It would be a different story in the third period, as the Canadiens would find the back of the net three times, twice on the power play. Emery finished the game with 30 saves on 34 opportunities, as the Flyers fell to 0-2.
Offseason acquisition Vincent Lecavalier scored his first goal as a member of the orange and black, the Flyers only goal of the night, midway through the third period. Lecavalier was thoroughly booed by Montreal the entire evening, taking on the role that Briere had played for Canadiens fans for six years.
The Flyers will make a quick turnaround, as they head to Carolina to face the Hurricanes this evening. Good news though, apparently all the Flyers beat writers are currently stranded in Canada due to computer systems down at the airport. You'll be happy to know, the Broad Street Beat is safe and sound in the fine city of Philadelphia.
