Brayden Schenn broke the tie midway into the second with a top-shelf goal off a wristshot. Simmonds and Meszaros assisted. The Flyers only put together 4 shots on goal the entire second period, but Schenn's was goal and 11 saves from Razor Ray made it 1-0 going into the third.
The Flames continued to dominate in terms of possession in the third, but early on Giroux sent a slapshot to the net that Hartnell directed in for his 15th goal of the year making it 2-0. That would prove to be the game winner.
Matt Stajan finally gave Calgary something to show for their effort and put the Flames on the board with 2:26 left in the game. The Flames outshot the Flyers 25-12 in the last 2 periods so we really have Emery to thank for this one.
Streit, Meszaros, Raffl, Voracek & Timonen will now head to Sochi to compete for their respective countries (in order: Switzerland, Slovakia, Austria, Czech Republic, Finland). The Flyers resume play against San Jose on February 27th. Enjoy the break folks.
