Also notching his first goal of the season was Jay Rosehill, who scored the first goal of the game midway into the 1st by redirecting a Mark Streit pass. We all need to appreciate that goal, as it is only Rosehill's 4th career goal. One more and he tops his season record!
David Perron scored for Edmonton in the second. Giroux then made it 3-1 with his goal in the third, which came during 4 on 4 play. This is Giroux's first goal since April of last sesaon.
Taylor Hall made it 3-2 for the Oilers 2 minutes after Giroux's goal. It looked as if the Flyers were going to pull their classic fall-apart-late move, but Lecavalier was able to secure the game with a one-timer from Brayden Schenn for his 6th goal of the season. Vinny still leads the Flyers in goals.
This was only the second time the Flyers have scored more than 2 this season. While it is nice to enjoy the win, it still came against Edmonton, a team that despite having numerous promising young players, still can't seem to put it together. They are basically the Flyers of the Western Conference record-wise.
Big news comes out of this game. The Flyers aren't in last place in the Metropolitan now! We have one more point than Columbus, at least as of 4:30 today. Columbus plays the Islanders tonight so we'll see if that stands.
The Flyers face off against the Ottawa Senators next, Tuesday at the Well.
