Cole Hamels put together a solid outing on the mound, only to receive no run support.
It's a familiar situation for Hamels, who allowed just one unearned run across seven innings of work on Sunday, but still came up on the losing end in the Phillies' 4-0 loss to the Nationals.
That run would turn out to be all the Nationals needed in the end, but they would not be done for the day, scoring three runs against young reliever Ken Giles.
It was just about the only struggles Giles has had since making his big league debut, but unfortunately would put the Phillies in a deeper hole.
With no offense to bail him out, Hamels collected his sixth loss of the season in the Phillies' 4-0 loss.
Oh, in case you weren't embarrassed enough by today's Phillies effort, let me remind you that they collected just three hits all game.
