Ryan Howard put an end to that embarrassing streak on Thursday night, as he continued to rake in his hometown of St. Louis in the Phillies' 4-1 win over the Cardinals.
The Big Piece would strike again in the sixth, hitting an opposite field two-run home run to extend the Phillies' lead to 4-0.
It was the third home run for Howard during the Phillies' four-game winning streak, as the veteran first baseman continues to heat up.
Those four runs would be more than enough for rookie starter David Buchanan, who allowed just one run in 7 2/3 innings of work. Buchanan allowed just four hits and one walk in the outing, as he sat the Cardinals down in order in five separate innings.
The Phillies have now won eight of their past 10 games and sit just four games out of first place in a weak NL East.
Notes: Reid Brignac injured his left ankle attempting the leg out a single in the Phillies' win. X-rays were negative and Brignac was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.
