Jordan Hicks Out For The Season

Early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's match at Dallas, rookie linebacker Jordan Hicks picked off a Matt Cassel pass and returned it 67 yards for a touchdown, a touchdown that proved to be huge en route to an overtime win.  Hicks had been making huge plays all season, but that Hicks Six was one of the more crucial plays of his young career.  However, we will have to wait until next year to watch Hicks play again.
Hicks left the game early Sunday night with a pectoral issue, and underwent an MRI Monday afternoon.  The initial diagnosis before the MRI was taken was that Hicks would miss two to four weeks at most.  But the results came back, an Hicks was ruled out for the season with a pectoral tear.

A third round pick out of Texas, Hicks quietly blossomed into one of the steals of the whole draft, filling in nicely when veterans Kiko Alonso, Demeco Ryans, and Mychal Kendricks missed time throughout the season.  He recovered three fumbles and had two interceptions to go along with his 50 tackles in the eight games this season.

Losing someone like Jordan Hicks hurts, but the Eagles have other viable options on the roster.  Kiko Alonso saw his first action in weeks Sunday night in Dallas, and he should be ready to receive a lot more playing time the rest of the way.  Mychal Kendricks was back and starting along side Hicks, too.  Demeco Ryans missed last night due to a groin injury, but it isn't too serious and should be returning to the lineup.

It was a great rookie season from Jordan Hicks.  Can't wait til next season to see him suit up once again.
