
In the second half, the La Salle big men began to control the paint, as the Explorers began to extend their lead. Stretching their lead to as much as 15 on a Zack jumper midway through the second half, the Explorers held on to win by a final of 71-63.
"They've been playing very well, so it was hard fought," said La Salle coach Dr. John Giannini. "They beat us to a lot of loose balls early on. I do think we won the game defensively."
Steve Zack led the Explorers, as he notched his 12th double-double of the season with 16 points and 16 rebounds in the contest. Tyreek Duren scored 13, while Tyrone Garland and Jerrell Wright added 11 apiece, and Sam Mills 10, to give the Explorers five players in double figures.
"That's just the flow of the game," said Steve Zack. "I'm not demanding the ball inside. That's just how we play as a team."
With the win, the Explorers improved to 12-9 on the season and 4-3 in Atlantic 10 play. La Salle will return to action on Wednesday when the visit Massachusetts.
