The Phillies have announced the signing of infielder Reid Brignac to a Minor League contract complete with an invitation to Spring Training.
Brignac brings with him some very underwhelming stats to say the least. The utility man has a career .221 batting average, with his highest average being .256 in 2010. The deal will probably have no effect on next season, as it isunlikely Brignac beats out the other options the Phillies have for backup infielders.
In 2013, Brignac hit .185 with a .480 OPS, as he spent limited time in the majors with the Rockies and Yankees. Hey, look on the bright side, at least Ruben didn’t offer him a 3 year deal!
