NBA Reverse Power Rankings Week 19: The Biggest Losers

3/4/2014

Each and every week, I give you, the fine readers of the BSB, a look into the futile existence of the 2013-2014 NBA season for many of the teams in this league (we're looking at you Eastern Conference).  However, one team has been on a historic pace for futility, but they have somehow not been able to top the Reverse Power Rankings this season.
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to a team many of you are familiar with; a team most of you share a common city with.  Yes, the Philadelphia 76ers, whom all of you know are just awful, have now lost 14 games in a row, with no obvious wins in sight.  Hinkie wasn't messing around when he made his tanking strategy known.  The current squad is composed of Thaddeus Young, Michael Carter Williams, a few D-League cast offs, and about 72,000 second round picks, give or take a few.  The all time record for consecutive losses is 26 in a row, set by the 2010-2011 Cleveland Cavaliers in their first post-LeBron year.  Only 12 losses to go?  That's certainly a doable task for the Sixers.  12 losses is considered a winning month for this squad.  Will the 76ers have what it takes to set some sort of record, even though it's for the worst team in the history of the league?  At least it gives the fans some sort of story to follow.

Without further ado, here are your Week 19 Reverse Power Rankings:

The Contenders:
30. Indiana Pacers (46-13)
29. Miami Heat (43-14)
28. Oklahoma City Thunder (45-15)
27. San Antonio Spurs (43-16)

Fringe Contenders:
26. Portland Trailblazers (41-19)
25. Houston Rockets (40-19)
24. Los Angeles Clippers (41-20)

Four Teams Battling For Three Spots:
23. Golden State Warriors (36-24)
22. Phoenix Suns (35-24)
21. Dallas Mavericks (36-25)
20. Memphis Grizzlies (34-25)

Can Someone Actually Stop The Heat or Pacers? (Hint: Probably not)
19. Toronto Raptors (33-26)
18. Chicago Bulls (33-27)
- Side note: I have always been a fan of Joakim Noah, but after the performance he had on Sunday, and this whole season as a matter of fact, I have the most respect for this man.  Sure he complains a bit sometimes, but he has more heart than anyone else in the league does.  I always appreciate someone who gives a 110% effort day in and day out, and if anyone deserves to complain ever in the NBA, its Mr. Noah.
17. Washington Wizards (31-29)
16. Brooklyn Nets (29-29)

Still Need A Piece Or Two To Win A Playoff Series:
15. Minnesota Timberwolves (30-29)
14. Charlotte Bobcats (27-33)
13. Atlanta Hawks (26-32)
12. Denver Nuggets (25-34)

Front Office Is On The Hot Seat:
11. Detroit Pistons (24-36)
10. Cleveland Cavaliers (24-37)
9. New Orleans Pelicans (23-37)

HAHAHAHAHA:
8. New York Knicks (only 8th so I can keep the tanking category last without interruption.  Actual ranking is 5th)

Tankapalooza Lineup:
7. Utah Jazz (21-39)
6. Los Angeles Lakers (21-39)
5. Sacramento Kings (21-39)
4. Boston Celtics (20-40)
3. Orlando Magic (19-43)
2. Philadelphia 76ers (15-45)
1. Milwaukee (12-47)
