Less than 24 hours removed from a walk-off win in a marathon contest, the Phillies offense would erupt, as they handily defeated the Astros by a score of 10-3.
Last night's hero, Ryan Howard doubled home two runs in the bottom of the first to put the Phillies ahead, and the Phillies would tack on three more in the frame, including an RBI single by pitcher David Buchanan.
Buchanan would be thrown out trying to advance to second, though the call was very questionable, but the damage had been done by the Phillies.
The Phillies would continue to have an answer for the Astros all night, following up Houston's run in the fourth with three runs of their own on a home run by Chase Utley to extend their lead to 8-2.
Houston would add one more in the seventh, but the Phillies would again respond, matching that run in the bottom of the frame before scoring again in the eighth to push their lead to 10-3.
Buchanan would collect the win on the evening, as he went 6 1/3 innings, allowing just three runs. Buchanan would receive more than enough offensive support in the game, as the Phillies scored 10 runs on 12 hits, including four hits by Ben Revere, who continued to heat up at the plate.
