Ah The Newspaper Guy, while typically a man, there will be the rare occasion when it is actually The Newspaper Gal. Now, you're probably thinking, well gee, plenty of people read the paper, what makes this person worthy of a Pondering? Well my friends, this person doesn't just read the newspaper, they manage to do it in a manner that angers those around them in the process.
You see, The Newspaper Guy will not do the courteous or sensible thing and fold the paper over to the story that has caught his eye. No, The Newspaper Guy will hold the paper out in its entirety, as to hog the seat you are sharing with them.
You wonder how they could possibly not realize that what they're doing is kind of rude. Seriously, just because you want to read doesn't entitle you to the majority of the seat. Why this person simply hasn't bought some form of e-reader at this point is kind of baffling, as they are much nicer, don't tear and won't leave ink on your hands.
This passenger is probably the reason the newspaper industry has held on to dear life as long as it has. Due to their somewhat annoying behavior, you kind of hope the newspaper industry does disappear, but then change your mind when you realize that would leave a ton of good people unemployed.
So, to you The Newspaper Guy, I say please do us all a favor and fold that paper. Hell maybe for Christmas if you're good, Santa will bring you an iPad.
