Things would improve a bit in the second act, as both teams began making some shots. Penn held a 62-60 lead with less than two minutes remaining, but a Kenneth Ortiz jumper with 1:20 remaining would tie the game and force it to overtime.
Wagner took control in overtime, outscoring Penn 13-7 on their way to picking up the 75-69 victory.
The Quakers were led in the losing effort by Fran Dougherty, who recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Tony Hicks added 14 and Darien Nelson-Henry 11, but it wouldn’t be enough, as Penn fell to the Seahawks.
Wagner was led by Kenneth Ortiz and Latif Rivers, who each scored 18 points in the game.
With the loss, Penn falls to 2-6 on the season. The Quakers will return to action on December 22, when they visit the Marist Red Foxes.
