Noticeably missing from the list is the longtime staple of Phillies training camp, Mike Schmidt. According to the Phillies Schmidt will be tending to a “health issue,” but plans to visit mid-March. We wish nothing but the best to Schmidt and hope everything is ok with the Hall of Famer.
- Halladay and Lidge are both younger than Bobby Abreu, who the club signed yesterday.
- Halladay was born in the same year (1977) as two members of the Phillies current 40-Man Roster and born just one year before four other members of the roster.
- The last time Lidge appeared in a major league game (June 16, 2012), Abreu went 2 for 4 against the White Sox.
- Halladay has more recently appeared in the MLB than Abreu and has an RBI more recently in an MLB game.
- Sarge will attempt to convince one of the young players in camp that he was the greatest to have ever played the game and will mention how he is friends with everyone, including Dusty Baker.
