
The Phillies would rally late, however, scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth to pull within one of the Mets. But that rally would ultimately fall short, as they lost by a score of 5-4.
The Mets knocked around Burnett in the fourth, scoring four runs to break a scoreless tie. Former Phillies prospect Travis d'Arnaud would hit a solo home run off Burnett in the fifth, extending the Mets' lead to 5-0.
The Phillies would rally late in this one, however, as Marlon Byrd hit a home run to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning before the Phillies worked up a rally in the ninth.
Grady Sizemore would pull the Phillies within two with a two-run double in the bottom of the ninth before Cody Asche knocked in a run to cut the deficit to just one.
The Phillies would be unable to complete their comeback attempt though, falling to the Mets 5-4 in the end.
