B.J. Rosenberg came on for the eighth and allowed a run that proved to be the difference in the end. Jonathan Papelbon tossed a scoreless ninth to keep the Phillies within striking distance, but they would be unable to make the comeback.
The Phillies took a 1 to 0 lead in the second on a Kevin Frandsen double and added another run in the sixth on a Dom Brown single to regain the lead. The Phillies would pull to within one in the eighth as Carlos Ruiz came home on a Darin Ruf pop out to make the score 4 to 3. That would be all for the Phillies scoring though, as they fell in front of a capacity crowd on Fan Appreciation Day.
The Phillies will be on the road for the remainder of the season. The Phillies will now head to Miami, as Roy Halladay will make the series-opening start.
