In honor of the 50th anniversary of Jim Bunning’s no-hitter, the Phillies chose to nearly replicate what the Mets’ offense did 50 years ago on Father’s Day when Bunning shut them down.
The Phillies were held hitless through 5 1/3 innings on Sunday afternoon, before they eventually fell 3-0 to the Cubs, collecting just three hits in the process.

Burnett would toss eight innings on the afternoon, allowing three runs on eight hits, but with no support from the Phillies’ bats, this one was essentially over after he allowed a solo home run in the first.
Burnett would allow two more runs in the game before handing things over to Ken Giles, who tossed a perfect inning in the 3-0 loss.
