
Hamels was solid in the outing, allowing three runs in 6 1/3 innings, but would pick up the loss in the end, as the Phillies dropped the series finale to the Nationals 3-2.
The Phillies would grab the lead back on a sacrifice fly by Darin Ruf in the top of the fourth. LaRoche would again lead off an inning with a home run, however, taking Hamels deep to lead off the bottom of the fourth to tie the game and pick up his second home run of the afternoon.
Hamels would come up short on the afternoon in the end, allowing a double to Ian Desmond in the sixth and advancing Desmond to third on a balk. Scott Hairston would make Hamels pay for the mistake, bringing Desmond home on a sacrifice fly for the deciding run in the Nationals' 3-2 win.
