Phillies Drop Sixth in a Row

The Phillies dropped their sixth consecutive game tonight as they still have yet to have their bats shipped to them on this road trip. The offense was embarrassed yet again, managing only one run on four, yes, four total hits.
Cole Hamels got the start and had the benefit of a Tigers lineup without Miguel Cabrera. Hamels battled and pitched valiantly, allowing only two runs, on six hits, across seven innings. But as is so often the case with this edition of the Phillies, allowing any runs is too many. Luis Garcia came on in the eighth and tossed a scoreless frame to keep the game within striking distance, but the offense continued its slumber.

The offense mustered an unimpressive four hits against Doug Fister and company tonight. Michael Young, Jimmy Rollins, Darin Ruf and Carlos Ruiz each collected a hit apiece. The Phillies lone run came courtesy of a third inning RBI single from Young, as they held their first lead since Saturday. It was short-lived, as the Tigers took the lead for the good in the fifth.

When it rains it pours apparently, because on top of their sixth consecutive loss, it has been announced that Cliff Lee has been scratched from tomorrows start with a stiff neck. Raul Valdes will now be matching up against Max Scherzer. This could get very ugly.

They might NEED to trade for some young talent. This season is all but completely done

It's all okay, they signed a 26 year old Cuban pitcher who may be good enough to be a 2-3 spot rotation pitcher. They're back in the race now!
