After allowing four runs in the top of the first, the Phillies took one back in the bottom half of the inning on a Chase Utley solo home run. It was Utley’s fourteenth home run of the season and he accounted for the only other RBI on the night as well, with an RBI groundout in the eighth. The Phillies only managed five hits the entire game, with Michael Young, who was thought to be all but traded after Cody Asche was called up, accounting for two of them on a 2 for 4 night at the plate. Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley and Darin Ruf each notched one hit to account for the Phillies other three hits on the evening, as Cody Asche went hitless in his first start.
The Phillies will now finish off the series with the Giants tomorrow. Cole Hamels will face off against Matt Cain in the series finale.
