The Phillies yet again took an early lead, only to squander it away. Chase Utley grounded out in the first to drive home Jimmy Rollins and John Mayberry Jr. smashed a two run home run in the second to stake Lannan a three run lead. The Braves responded with four runs to take the lead, before Jimmy Rollins tied things up on a double in the seventh. The Phillies would fail to score again as the game went twelve innings before they finally lost. While out-hitting the Braves 7-5, the Phillies failed to plate the necessary runs in taking the loss, as errors cost them the game, with the Braves only having three of there five runs be earned.
The Phillies will now face-off against the Braves again tomorrow, as Cliff Lee makes his return from a stiff neck. The game will be at 8:05 on ESPN, which means it will take at least four hours to play.
