
They would be unable to plate another run from there, however, as the Marlins won 5-4 on a walk-off single by Ed Lucas in the 11th inning to send the Phillies to their fifth straight loss.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth before Giancarlo Stanton singled home a run in the fifth to give the Marlins the lead. The Marlins would add one more in the fifth on a wild pitch by A.J. Burnett, extending their lead to 4-2.
The Phillies would not be finished quite yet, however, as Marlon Byrd and Cody Asche hit back-to-back solo home runs in the eighth to tie the game, eventually forcing extra innings.
The Marlins would prevail in the 11th, however, sending the Phillies to their ninth loss in their past 11 contests, as their fate as sellers at the Trade Deadline continues to be cemented.
