Lee lasted five innings in the start, allowing one run on five hits, while also recording seven strikeouts. The Tigers scored the only run of the game in the first, as Miguel Cabrera followed an Ian Kinsler triple with an RBI ground out.
While the pitching was strong, the Tigers were just a bit stronger, holding the Phillies to just two hits in the game.
The Phillies will next host the Blue Jays on Thursday, as A.J. Burnett gets the start in the final Grapefruit League game for the Phillies.
Notes: Bobby Abreu will not be a member of the Phillies Opening Day roster. While the veteran has yet to be released, he struggled in the field Wednesday, helping to make the Phillies’ decision. The Phillies announced the release of Michael Stutes on Wednesday. The reliever has struggled as he battled shoulder injuries after a breakout year in 2011.
