The Phillies led from the first inning on in their second to last game of the season, withstanding a late rally by the Braves to win by a score of 5 to 4. The Phillies looked to their bullpen to piece together another game and luckily they were able to do just enough to walk away victorious.
Ethan Martin made the start for the Phillies and lasted three innings, as he surrendered one run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Freddie Freeman. Martin would hold the Braves to four hits in his outing before handing things off to Luis Garcia, who threw two shutout innings. Garcia allowed two hits while striking out three and was awarded the win in the end by the official scorer.

Mike Stutes came on for the sixth and held the Braves scoreless, as did Jake Diekman in the seventh. B.J. Rosenberg allowed two hits in the eighth but kept the Braves at bay, holding them scoreless. With the Phillies up 5 to 1 entering the ninth, Jonathan Papelbon was brought in and almost blew the game. Papelbon allowed three runs to bring the Braves within a run of the Phillies before finally recording the final out of the night.

The Phillies jumped to an early lead in the game, as Cameron Rupp singled home two runs in the top of the first. The Braves would take one back in the bottom of the frame before both teams offense went dormant for five innings. The Phillies added two more in the seventh as Jimmy Rollins singled home a run and Dom Brown did the same to extend the Phillies lead to 4 to 1. The Phillies would plate what would prove to be the winning run in the eighth, as Chase Utley singled home a run and the Phillies withstood a rally from the Braves in the ninth to win 5 to 4.

The Phillies will now play their final game of a disappointing season. Zach Miner will start the final contest of the season for the Phillies.
