Kyle Kendrick will take the hill for the Phillies as they look to kick the series off with a win and possibly set themselves up to snap a streak of five consecutive series lost. Kendrick was rocked by the Giants in his previous start and has appeared to have traded Roy Halladay's pitching arm back to him around the All Star Break, as his ERA has steadily risen to 4.29. Following a day off, we can only hope the Phillies were able to track down their missing bats and provide some run support tonight.
The Cubs will throw Edwin Jackson out on the mound, in hopes of snapping their own streak of misery. Jackson is 7-11 this season with a 4.65 ERA.
Look for Darin Ruf to be the Phillies only consistent base runner tonight, as he enters the game with a streak of 32 straight games reaching base. So strap yourselves in folks, tonight we may be reminded of what a Little League game looks like, except at the Little League World Series, those kids are actually good.
