Despite a solid outing from starter Kyle Kendrick, the Phillies were shut out by the Blue Jays in a 3-0 loss Monday night.
The Blue Jays would get one more run in the first and another in the second before Kendrick began to settle in.
In the end, Kendrick finished with seven innings pitched, allowing just three runs on seven hits. Despite keeping the Phillies in the game, Kendrick received no support from the offense.
The Phillies left the bases loaded in the second, and Marlon Byrd was gunned down at home in the sixth when he tried to score on a fly ball. In all, the Phillies went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position, as they fell to the Blue Jays, 3-0.
Cole Hamels will close out the Philadelphia portion of this home and home series with the Blue
Jays Tuesday night before the Phillies head to Toronto.
Notes: Jimmy Rollins was out of the lineup Monday night as a precaution after tweaking his groin Sunday.
