Phillies Rally in Ninth To Top Dodgers, Win Series

Kyle Kendrick left the game after 5 2/3 innings with the Phillies in the lead. He had done his job. He put the team in a position to win.

Then Mike Adams surrendered a solo home run to Adrian Gonazalez in the seventh, and suddenly the Phillies' lead was gone.

The Phillies entered the ninth with the game tied 3-3, but an offensive outburst would soon put them ahead, as they scored four runs in the inning on their way to a 7-3 victory.

A two-run home run by Juan Uribe would give the Dodgers the lead in the fourth, but it would be short-lived, as the Phillies responded with three runs of their own in the fifth to take the lead.

The Dodgers would tie the game in the seventh, but the Phillies would have another response in the ninth.

With one out in the ninth, Carlos Ruiz doubled home two runs to regain the lead for the Phillies. Marlon Byrd would follow that two batters later with a two-run single, notching his third and fourth RBI on the night.

With the 7-3 win, the Phillies improved to 11-11 on the season and took the series against the Dodgers three to one.

The Phillies will now head to Arizona, where Roberto Hernandez will take the hill against Josh Collmenter on Friday night.
