The Phillies would take two runs back in the top of the fifth, but Burnett would continue to struggle, as the Nationals scored another run in the fifth and three in the sixth to extend their lead to 8-2.
Burnett would finish with six innings pitched, having allowed eight runs on 10 hits and four walks.
John Mayberry Jr. would hit a two-run home run in the seventh to put the Phillies within four, but they would be unable to plate any more runs from there, falling 8-4 for their fifth straight loss.
Kyle Kendrick will attempt to halt the Phillies' skid on Thursday afternoon, as he faces off against Doug Fister in the series finale with the Nationals.
