The Phillies' offensive struggles continued Sunday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, as the club managed just one run in a 4-1 loss to the Rockies. The loss completes the Rockies' three-game sweep of the Phillies, and extends the Phillies losing streak to seven games. The Phillies wasted little time falling behind in this one, as Jerome Williams allowed a two-run home run to Nolan Arenado with one out in the top of the first inning. |
The Rockies would strike via the long ball again in the fifth, extending their lead to 4-1 on a two-run homer by DJ LeMahieu on their way to handing the Phillies their seventh straight loss and completing a three-game sweep at Citizens Bank Park.
The seven-game losing streak outdates a May 26 article that was released on CSNPhilly.com with Ruben Amaro Jr. saying of Phillies fans "They don't understand the game. They don't understand the process. There's a process. And they bitch an complain because we don't have a plan."
This leaves me with no other choice than to declare this losing streak The Curse of Ruben Amaro Jr.
NOTES: Some idiot apparently flew a drone over third base during the game.
Up Next: The Phillies will give you a break from this misery on Monday before opening a three-game series with the Reds on Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park.
