With the 5-4 win over Atlanta, the Phillies picked up just their second series win of the season.
Atlanta would tie things up in the third, but the Phillies would add a run in the fifth on a triple by Ben Revere to regain the lead. The Phillies would tack on what would prove to be a crucial insurance run in the seventh on a throwing error by Freddie Freeman.
Jonathan Papelbon would come on in the ninth for the save, but would be sure to make Phillies fans nervous by allowing a solo home run before finally finishing out the game to give the Phillies a 5-4 win.
Up next: The Phillies will kick off a 10-game road trip on Monday against the Cardinals. Severino Gonzalez – the No. 15 prospect in the Phillies’ system – will make the start in his Major League debut.
