The Phillies got on the board in the fourth when Cody Asche grounded into a fielders choice to score Chase Utley. One batter later, John Mayberry Jr. cleared the bases on a three run home run, his ninth of the season. Carlos Ruiz continued to heat up, adding the Phillies fifth run on the game an inning later, on a solo shot, his third of the year. Ruiz added a double as well in the game and the Phillies were able to withstand the Rockies comeback effort and hold on for the win.
The Phillies will face the Rockies again in game two of this four-game set. Tyler Cloyd will take the hill for the Phillies.
