Temple was the final Philadelphia college football team to be in action this season, and were able to end a miserable season on a high note. The Owls took a 3-0 lead on a first quarter field goal (yes, they actually made a field goal), and never relinquished the lead, topping Memphis 41-21.
Leading 3-0 at the end of the first quarter, the Owls extended their lead when P.J. Walker connected with Robbie Anderson for a 1-yard touchdown. Memphis responded with a touchdown of their own, but Temple would score a touchdown with 20 seconds left in the half, as Walker again connected with Anderson, giving the Owls a 17-7 halftime lead.
Memphis closed within 3 shortly into the third quarter, but two straight Temple touchdowns just a 1:11 apart would put the game away. Temple would make another field goal in the fourth and Walker and Anderson would connect for yet another touchdown, as the Owls won 41-21.
Walker was 20 for 32 passing on the afternoon for 328 yards and four touchdowns. The Owls received a combined 206 yards rushing from the team as well, as they closed out a forgettable season on a high note. The win gives the Owls a 2-10 record to finish out the season, including 1-7 in conference play.
