Temple fell to 0-4 on the season when they failed to complete their comeback effort on a visit to Idaho. The Owls trailed the Vandals 17-3 heading into halftime, with their only points coming on a Nick Visco 25-yard field goal.
Clearly outmatched in the first half, the Owls emerged from the locker room looking like a different team, as they began their comeback effort. Ken Harper had a 5-yard rushing touchdown just moments into the second half to narrow the Owls deficit to 17-10. The Vandals would follow that with two field goals before Connor Reilly connected with Ryan Alderman for a 51-yard Owls touchdown to put the score at 23-17 Vandals. The Vandals responded with yet another field goal, which would prove to be the game-winning points. Harper had a 2-yard rushing touchdown with three and a half minutes left to bring Temple within two, but the Owls were unable to complete their comeback, falling in the end 26-24.
Temple will return to action as they welcome #7 Louisville to Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday at noon.
UPenn 6 Villanova 35
Villanova jumped out to a 21 to 0 lead in the first half, as they dominated cross-city rival UPenn this weekend.
Joe Price caught a 15-yard pass from John Robertson to put the Wildcats up 7-0. Craig James would then return a blocked field goal 73 yards to extend the Villanova lead. Robertson would connect with Poppy Livers for a 50-yard touchdown in the second quarter and Nova cruised into the half.
UPenn would score their only points on a third quarter touchdown but miss the extra point. The Wildcats added 14 more in the half on a Robertson 36-yard rushing touchdown and a Livers 6-yard receiving touchdown as Villanova routed UPenn.
UPenn will welcome Dartmouth to Franklin Field next week, as Villanova welcomes William & Mary to Villanova Stadium.
