The Eagles head to Lambeau Field Sunday at 1 p.m. to face the 5-3 Green Bay Packers. Philadelphia enters the game coming off a big win against Oakland last week behind a historic performance from quarterback Nick Foles. While the Eagles quarterback situation appears to have been clarified for the time being, the Packers situation has become a bit blurry, with Aaron Rodgers suffering a fractured collarbone in Green Bay’s Monday night loss.
Journeyman Seneca Wallace will be under center for the Packers in place of the injured Rodgers. Wallace went 11 for 19 with an interception after replacing Rodgers on Monday and is 6-15 as a starter in his career.
While the Packers will be without Rodgers, there is a possibility they will have star linebacker Clay Matthews back for the game. Matthews practiced this week after having pins removed from his right thumb. The injury has kept Matthews out since early October, but the superior Matthews brother by far has said he thinks he will be able to play.
It was a historic performance by Nick Foles as he continued his string of success against pirate-themed teams last week in Oakland. Foles tied an NFL record with 7 touchdown passes in one game, passing for a career-high 406 yards.
Foles will look for big plays again this week from wideouts DeSean Jackson and Riley Cooper. Cooper has been on a roll as of late, racking up 360 receiving yards in his last four games and scoring three touchdowns against the Raiders.
The Eagles will look to running back LeSean McCoy to help balance their fast-paced attack. One of the league’s top rushers this season, McCoy has struggled as of late and will look to get back on track as the Birds visit one of the shrines of football.
Without their starting quarterback, the Packers are significantly weakened, but make no mistake, it will be no cakewalk for the Eagles. If the Eagles can resemble the team that dominated Oakland last week and not the squad that was held to 10 points total in the two games prior, they could leave Lambeau with a win and a .500 record on the season.
