Preview: Eagles v. Giants

The Eagles welcome the absolutely pathetic New York Giants to Lincoln Financial Field Sunday at 1, as they look to move back to the .500 mark. The Eagles enter the contest coming off a wretched offensive showing last week against the Cowboys in a 17-3 loss, while the Giants finally picked up their first win in a 23-7 defeat of the Vikings.

The Eagles have yet to win at home and the Giants have yet to win on the road, so just like last week's game against the Cowboys, one streak will come to an end.

In an odd turn of events, Philadelphia's defense showed signs of life last week, but an atrocious showing by Nick Foles and then Matt Barkley who replaced the injured starter, led to the Eagles surrendering sole possession of first place in the division to the Cowboys.

The Giants are coming off a week in which they shut down Adrian Peterson, holding the running back to just 28 yards.  While New York was able to stop the run, they also have no running game of their own, as an injury to Brandon Jacobs and others have forced the Giants to turn to Peyton Hillis.

After being held to just 55 yards rushing, LeSean McCoy will look to regain the form that has allowed him to build a solid lead over all other rushers in the NFL. McCoy has 685 yards on the ground this season, good for a 97.9 yards per game average. McCoy will have some help in the rushing game, as Michael Vick returns as the starting quarterback. Vick may be limited running however, as he is coming off a hamstring injury that has kept him out the past two weeks.

My prediction last week was nowhere near close, but I'll try again because, what the hell?

Prediction: Eagles 27       Giants 24
