A.J. Burnett looked solid in six innings of work in his regular season debut as a member of the Phillies, as he allowed just one run on seven hits. The bullpen would be unable to hold the lead however, as the Phillies fell to the Rangers 3-2.

Entering the sixth inning, neither team had crossed home plate. That would soon change, as Cesar Hernandez led off the top of the sixth with a double and was brought home two batters later on a single by Jimmy Rollins.

Ryan Howard would bring Rollins around to score with an RBI double later in the inning, as the Phillies took a 2-0 lead.

The Rangers would take one back in the bottom half of the frame, as Mitch Moreland singled home Alex Rios after the right fielder led off the inning with a double.

Jake Diekman would come on to relieve Burnett in the seventh, allowing an RBI double to Adrian Beltre to tie the game at 2-2.

After a perfect eighth inning by Antonio Bastardo, Mario Hollands was tapped to make his Major League debut. Hollands walked the leadoff batter on four pitches and would be lifted after recording just one out and walking two batters.

B.J. Rosenberg would come on to try to get the Phillies out of a jam, but on just his third pitch would allow a walk off single to Adrian Beltre, as the Phillies lost 3-2. It was the third inherited runner Rosenberg has allowed to score this year...just two games into the season.

The Phillies came up on the short end of this pitcher's duel just one day after the two teams combined to score 24 runs.

The Phillies will finish up this three-game set with the Rangers Wednesday night. Kyle Kendrick will make the start, as the Phillies look to start the season with a series win.
