Burnett would leave with the game tied however, as the Phillies offense remained in its recent funk.
Domonic Brown would get the eighth started on the right foot however, singling to left field. After a sacrifice bunt by Wil Nieves to advance Brown, Jayson Nix was sat down on strikes and the Phillies hopes seemed dismal.
That’s when a bit a plate discipline kicked in. Ryan Howard worked a crucial walk as a pinch hitter to keep the inning alive before Ben Revere singled home the go-ahead run.
With the Phillies pitchers shutting down the Braves lineup all day, that run would prove to be all the Phillies would need, as they topped the Braves 1-0.
The Phillies will now head to Colorado, where they will begin a series with the Rockies on Friday night. Jonathan Pettibone will make the start for the Phillies, facing off against Tyler Chatwood.
