Saint Joe's Secures Fifth Place In Old Spice Classic

As the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Florida comes to a close today, Saint Joseph's can head back to Philly knowing that they learned a great deal about themselves in this tournament.  They played some teams that they would never normally play, such as LSU and Washington State, and helped them to try different lineups and rotations over the weekend.
In today's match up against the Washington State Cougars, the Hawks came out victorious by a final score of 72-67.  Ronald Roberts led the way once again for the Hawks, scoring 21 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and destroying a few rims in the process.  Roberts is now averaging 18 ppg on the season, up nearly seven whole points from last year's average.  With the loss of Carl Jones and CJ Aiken from last year's squad, Roberts has been forced into taking on more responsibility on the offensive side of the ball, and he has been great in taking care of business on that end.

Freshman DeAndre Bembry also had a nice game, scoring 13 points and snaring 4 rebounds as well.  Bembry has looked very solid so far in his first year on Hawk Hill, averaging over 9 points a game on the season.  Langston Galloway also scored 13 points in the win over the Cougars, and is also averaging 18 ppg this year.

Although he only managed to score 2 points, Chris Wilson provided some spark for the Hawks, putting up 4 assists and 6 rebounds and played some very solid defense as well.  Halil Kanacevic scored 7 points, but had a great all-around game too, grabbing 8 rebounds and blocking two shots.  The Hawks starting five has played very well this season, and will need to continue to do so as they have a tough slate of games coming up this week.

Big city 6 implications this week for the Hawks, as their next three games are against Temple, Villanova, and Drexel.  Winning at least 2 of these games will help them establish themselves as one of the premier teams not only in Phialdelphia, but in the entire Atlantic 10 conference.

Next Game: Wednesday, December 4 @ Temple 8pm
