With a much less experienced roster this year, the Hawks went through quite a bit of growing pains throughout the season.
Saint Joseph’s 2014-2015 season would culminate in disappointing fashion - a 60-49 loss to St. Bonaventure in the second round of the A-10 Tournament - but with just one senior starter on this year’s squad, Martelli’s team could look much stronger with another year of experience under their belts come November.
Saint Joseph’s shooting would go ice cold in the second half, however, as the Bonnies surged to a 36-34 lead with 13:02 remaining.
St. Bonaventure would not relinquish the lead from there, taking advantage of the Hawks’ 17.2 percent (5-for-29) second half shooting on its way to a 60-49 win.
Isaiah Miles would lead the Hawks in the loss, notching 19 points, while DeAndre’ Bembry was held to just 12 points on 3-for-14 shooting from the field.
Senior Chris Wilson would be held scoreless in his final game for Saint Joseph’s going 0-for-6 from the field.
With the season over much earlier than they would’ve liked it to be, the Hawks will begin to look to the future and try to grow the program around Bembry, their First Team All-Atlantic 10 standout.
