Sixers Take Over The Capital

What is the best way to follow up a win against the Miami Heat earlier in the week? To defeat the Wizards in your next game of course.  Despite many NBA experts and pundits declaring the season over before it began, the 76ers are showing a bit resiliency by winning their first 2 games.
Fending off a strong campaign from John Wall, who finished with 26 points and 6 assists, the Sixers were lead by veterans Thaddeus Young and Evan Turner, who finished with 29 and 23 points respectively.  Spencer Hawes also had a very solid game himself, recording 16 points and 14 rebounds en route to the win.

After putting up some of the best all around numbers by any rookie in their first career game, MCW also had another great performance, posting 14 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds.  The 11th pick of last year's draft is looking like quite the find so far and is proving that he will be a major part of the 76ers rebuilding plan for several seasons.

Lavoy Allen and Tony Wroten each scored 10 points off the bench, giving the Sixers a great all around team effort.  Defense and rebounding are both vital pieces for a team to have if you expect to win in the NBA.  The Sixers demonstrated that they were capable of both by keeping pace with the Wizards and holding them to 43% shooting from the field.

The Sixers look to make it 3 straight against the Bulls tomorrow night at 7:30 in Chicago.  Derrick Rose and co are one of the best teams in the league, so it will truly be a great test for the 76ers young lineup.

Although the original plan was to go 0-82 and guarantee a top 4 pick in one of the best draft classes in ages, winning is also a great consolation prize.  But don't worry fellow BSB readers, there are 80 games left in the season.  Only time will tell if the Sixers will keep up this winning (probably unlikely but crazier things have happened).
