Markus Kennedy got the Mustangs off to a fast start, scoring 8 of their first 10 points as they grabbed a 10-4 lead over the Owls. Temple would close within 6 points again at 20-14 with just more than 7 minutes remaining, but SMU would close the half strong, heading to the break up 32-20.
Pepper would score 7 points in the half for Temple, but did so on just 3-of-11 shooting, as the Owls struggled mightily in the half, making just 23.3 percent of their shots from the field.
Temple's shooting would improve somewhat in the second half, but so would SMU's, as the Mustangs went 17-of-28 from the field in the second act on their way to a commanding 75-52 win.
Pepper would finish with 15 points for the Owls in the loss, but went just 6-of-20 shooting on the evening. Anthony Lee notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, but the Owls continued their season long struggles, as they fell to 6-15 overall and 1-8 in AAC play.
Temple will continue their visit to the lone star state, as they next face Houston on Sunday.
