The Owls would start off poorly in this one, finding themselves trailing the Hornets by seven just more than five minutes into the game. Temple would begin to settle in a bit from there, however, using a 10-2 run to take a 13-12 lead.
Delaware State would regain the lead at 24-23, but Temple would close the half strong to head to the locker room with a 35-27 lead.
A 10-1 run early in the second half would allow Delaware State to cut Temple's lead to just two. The Owls would maintain their poise, however, using a run of their own to put some distance between themselves and the Hornets, and would stretch their lead to as a large as 16 before picking up a 78-63 win to reach the .500 mark on the season.
The Owls would take advantage of a dominant performance on the glass in the win, out-rebounding the Hornets 48-33, including 21-11 on the offensive glass, which helped Temple to a 17-3 advantage in second chance points.
DeCosey would lead the way for the Owls in the win, scoring 20 points, including going 12-for-15 from the free throw line and grabbing 12 rebounds. Josh Brown would pitch in 14 points, five rebounds and four assists as well to help the Owls improve to 5-5.
Temple will now take a 10-day break before returning to action on December 29 at #23 Cincinnati.
