Union Continue Slide

The Union continued their recent slide on Saturday night, as they lost a crucial match at home against the Houston Dynamo. The Union fell in the end by a score of 1 to 0 in a back-and-forth affair, as the squad had a goal called back on a controversial call, costing them the chance to escape the match with one point for a tie. 

In the 30th minute of the match, Keon Daniel struck a beautiful free kick from 40 yards out, sneaking it past the Houston keeper (see below). A gorgeous shot that would have given the Union the lead, the goal was called back, as the referee called Amobi Okugo offsides on the play. A somewhat weak call, it allowed Houston to head to locker room with the game still in a scoreless tie.

The Dynamo would emerge for the second half and quickly notch the difference maker, as Ricardo Clark found the back of the net in the 53rd minute. Houston would hold on for the remainder of the match, as they escaped PPL with a crucial win.

The loss allowed the Dynamo to pass the Union in the standings, as the Union continue to struggle as of late. The Union now sit tied for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with the Chicago Fire.

The Union will now have off until September 27, when they will visit second place Sporting Kansas City, as they attempt to get back on track in time for a playoff push.
