It was a crucial game. On the cusp of a playoff berth, the Union traveled to Montreal Saturday. Having fallen on hard times in the latter half of the season, the Union needed to leave Canada with three points but were unable to pick up the win, falling 2 to 1 to the Impact.
The Union were the first to find the back of the net, as Fabinho buried one in the 29th minute of play. The goal came on a fantastic run into the box by the midfielder, but the Impact would respond in the second half.
Two second half goals would allow Montreal to come away with the victory, as they found the back of the net in the 64th and 84th minute.
The loss puts added pressure on the Union now, as they head into the final game of the season against Sporting Kansas City. Sitting two points out of the final playoff spot on the Eastern Conference, the Union will need to finish off the season with a win and a bit of help from other squads. Crazier things have happened, as the final match sets up to be one with huge implications.
