It would be Howard's fourth hit of the night however, a single to center field in the ninth, that would allow the Phillies to take a 5-4 lead on their way to topping the Mets for the second straight night.
Jimmy Rollins would respond with a solo shot in the second to give the Phillies back the lead.
Kendrick would begin to settle in from there, until the sixth inning that is. David Wright would double home a run to tie the game before Kendrick was eventually pulled with one out in the inning.
Jake Diekman would come on in relief, allowing one inherited runner to score and giving the Mets the lead before eventually escaping the inning.
The Phillies veterans would respond over the final three frames however, as Utley doubled home the tying run in the seventh before Howard brought around the go-ahead run in the ninth in the Phillies' 5-4 victory.
The Phillies will look to complete the road sweep of the Mets on Sunday afternoon, as Cole Hamels takes the mound.
