DePaul jumped out to a 6-2 lead on a three-pointer by Billy Garrett Jr., but the Wildcats would respond with an 8-0 run to take the lead, one they would not relinquish the rest of the night. Villanova would begin to move the ball with ease as they started to pull away from the Blue Demons, heading to the half with a 48-31 lead.
Hilliard and JayVaughn Pinkston would lead the way for the Wildcats in the half, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Ryan Arcidiacono added 9 on 3-of-3 shooting from beyond the arc.
Brandon Young would tally 16 first half points for the Blue Demons, but it would make no difference, as DePaul found themselves in a big hole at the break.
Villanova would remain in command in the second half, growing their lead to as much as 28 before winning by a final score of 87-62.
