Week 1 Reverse NBA Power Rankings

11/2/2014

Well week one is in the books, and the Sixers are who we thought they were.  They are currently one of the only four teams without a win yet this season and hopefully they can keep it that way. Disregard wins, acquire ping pong balls.  But not just any ping pong balls; no amount of basement table tennis will make the Sixers any better.  No, they specifically need the NBA Lottery ping pong balls so they can get the number one pick next June.
It sounds gloomy, but the Sixers do have some solid assets.  Starting with whom they just drafted, Joel Embiid may be out of the running for MVP on the court this season, but he's been the league MVP off the court this summer with his twitter account.  If he grabs rebounds like he grabs followers, the Sixers future will be bright.  Dario Saric looks solid overseas by all accounts, but the Sixers will need him to take his talents to Broad Street eventually and contribute in this time zone.

On the court, they have potential Rookie of the Year Nerlens Noel, who was able to snag his first career double double against Milwaukee on Halloween night.  Michael Carter-Williams is not only one of the better guards amongst those with hyphenated last names, but he has played well so far in his short career.

The short term future will be bleak, but if all these pieces pan out like they're expected to and they can keep adding pieces through the draft, Hinkie's plan should work out.
