The most excitingly underwhelming night in the Philadelphia sports blog year has arrived. Yes folks, it's the 2014 Broady Awards! All of Philadelphia's finest, by which I mean anyone who follows us or visits the site, will be walking the whatever-color-carpet-is in-their-house tonight. So sit back and enjoy responsibly, or enjoy irresponsibly. Honestly, who are we to tell you what to do? |
First let’s take a minute to remember all the followers we've lost since last year (this could take a while)...just kidding, unfollowers are like assholes, we all have one and they all stink, so screw them.
Tonight's first award will be presented by celebrity presenter, Dexter. OK Dexter, open that envelope, even though you have no thumbs, and let's get started.
The Inaugural Broady for Lifetime Twitter Achievement goes to @FanSince09.
If you haven't been following along in recent weeks, Ock straight crowd sourced an investigation and found those responsible for assaulting two gay men in Rittenhouse Square. He is the Batman of our times and has made the city safer as a result. Not to mention, he was on The View for all of this. Well done, Ock.
Ok, well, we're out of celebrity presenters so Dan, Kyle, Ben and Matt will be announcing the rest of the awards.
The 2014 Broady for Best TV Sports Anchor goes to Ducis Rodgers (@duciswild), who pulls off the repeat.
The 2014 Broady for Best Meteorologists goes to David Murphy (@davidmurphy6abc) and Katie Fehlinger (@katiefehlinger). David is now a two-time Broady Award winner (reminder: he gave his acceptance speech on-air last year, so you have a lot to live up to, Fehlinger).
The 2014 Broady for Best Traffic Reporter goes to Jillian Mele (@jillianbmele). We'd play in traffic any day for you.
The 2014 Broady for Best Sports Radio Personality goes to Brian Startare (@brianstartare). Sorry to any other sports radio folk who follow us. Better luck in 2015. Pro tip: Bake us cookies, that is counted in the voting.
The 2014 Broady for Most Likely To Let Kyle Swim with Their Sharks goes to Adventure Aquarium (@AdventureAqua). Please take the hint and let Kyle swim with the sharks.
The 2014 Broady for Biggest Twitter Asshole goes to Fox 29's Joyce Evans (@JoyceEvansFox29). Joyce has had this award locked up since last October when she graced Twitter with the below gem. I shit you not, this tweet still has not been deleted. Reminder: People don't forget.

The 2014 Broady Award for Philadelphia Sports Franchise with the Worst Twitter goes to the Phillies (@Phillies). Seriously gang, your performance on the field has been terrible, the least you could do is liven up your social media posts.
The 2014 Broady for Best Parody: It was a tightly contested award, but the winner is Chip Kelly's Balls (@ChipKellysBalls). It's been an exciting year for that set of gonads, as they won a division championship in their first year in the big time while impressing quite a few of us along the way...
The 2014 Broady for Most Likely to Hit On Us: This year the award is split by defending Broady winner Meredith Hays (@TheMiamiQueet) and newcomer (@AlexFerraro20). Well done ladies, way to remain persistent.
Now for the biggest award of the night.
The 2014 Broady for Best Supporting Follower: OK, there are quite a few of you this could go to, but we did the corny thing last year and gave it to everyone, so this year we are singling out one of you. This year's winner of the Broady for Best Supporting Follower goes to Dan Aleksander (@HaveTilFive). Thanks for the continued support Dan (and everyone else).
OK, time for the after party. This year Katie Fehlinger has graciously agreed to host and finance the party. Way to be, Katie.
