When it rains, it pours. At least, for the Phillies it does.

Cole Hamels made the start for the Phillies on a rain-soaked Tuesday evening, putting forth his worst start in quite some time. Hamels was smacked around in 4 2/3 innings of work, as he surrendered six runs on eight hits, while also walking five batters.

After being put in a hole early, the Phillies found themselves unable to get out, as they dropped the series opener to the Mets, 6-1.

A.J. Burnett continued his recent string of dominance Sunday afternoon, as the right-hander completely shut down the D-backs. Burnett tossed eight scoreless innings on the afternoon, striking out eight and surrendering just five hits, as he lowered his ERA in his last four starts to 1.38.

The Phillies would take the lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Chase Utley, and that run would prove to be all they would need, as they topped the D-backs 2-0 behind the gem from Burnett.

A three-run outburst in the seventh pulled the Phillies within one run before an eighth inning home run by A.J. Pollock extended the D-backs lead to 5-3.

The Phillies would respond in the ninth, pulling to within one again on an RBI single by Jimmy Rollins and later putting the tying run in scoring position before eventually falling 5-4.

Kyle Kendrick left the game after 5 2/3 innings with the Phillies in the lead. He had done his job. He put the team in a position to win.

Then Mike Adams surrendered a solo home run to Adrian Gonazalez in the seventh, and suddenly the Phillies' lead was gone.

The Phillies entered the ninth with the game tied 3-3, but an offensive outburst would soon put them ahead, as they scored four runs in the inning on their way to a 7-3 victory.

Cole Hamels made his season debut for the Phillies Wednesday night in Los Angeles. The left-hander picked up right where he left off last season, tossing six strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out five.

Hamels would be lifted after throwing just 86 pitches, and that's when things went downhill. The bullpen would allow three runs in two innings of work, as the Phillies lost to the Dodgers, 5-2.

A fielding error cost one team the game Tuesday night. Shockingly, that team was not the Phillies.

After Carlos Ruiz reached base on a Carl Crawford error with one out in the 10th, Domonic Brown stepped to the plate. Brown drove the 1-1 pitch to left-center, doubling home Ruiz and giving the Phillies the lead, as they topped the Dodgers 3-2.

Dominant.

That's just one of the many words that could be used to describe Cliff Lee's performance Monday night.

The left-hander tossed eight shutout innings, allowing just four hits and striking out 10, as the Phillies cruised past the Dodgers, 7-0.

Entering Sunday, it had been four games since the Phillies recorded their last extra-base hit. Jimmy Rollins would put that to an end quickly, as the shortstop hit a solo home run to right field with one out in the first.

From there, the Phillies and Rockies would trade the lead several times. In the end it would be an RBI groundout by Chase Utley in the eighth that would prove to be the difference maker, as the Phillies avoided being swept with a 10-9 win.

Four games.

That's how long it has now been since the Phillies have recorded an extra-base hit after another poor offensive outing Saturday night.

Kyle Kendrick made the start for the Phillies, allowing three runs across seven innings, but with the Phillies offense still missing in action, picked up the loss as the Rockies won 3-1.
